Air Force and served 4 years active duty during the Viet Nam Conflict. Upon returning home to McAlester attended Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. Then attended and graduated the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas in 1980.

He graduated from Pittsburg High School with the Class of 1960. He then attended the Rutherford Metropolitan School of Business in Dallas, TX. Bob joined the United States Army and served as a payroll clerk until his honorable discharge.
